Lāsya Arts and Dance Institute is dedicated to the art of Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance form. The aim is to redefine traditional Indian arts by infusing modern themes, and drawing inspiration from diverse sources such as mythology, poetry, art, nature, and music to the ever evolving diaspora of Indian arts. I want to impart a sense and taste of centuries of culture that is understandable and relatable for today's youth.
Anyone can learn at any age and the only limits are those of your imagination! Contact if you are interested in starting or continuing classes.
About the TEACHER:
I started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 3 from Krishna Gana Sabha in Chennai, India and completed my foundational learning (adavus) in India (Krishna Gana Sabha) through Alarippu. I continued training under the guidance of Smt. Madhusri Sethuraman in Plano, TX (Srutilaya Dance School), a direct disciple of world-renowned teachers: Padmabushan Kamala, Kalaimamani Rajarathnam Pillai, and Padmabushan Kalanidhi Narayan. I have done various workshops with them organized by Smt. Madhusri. I completed my arangetram in 2004 under Smt.Madhusri's guidance at Vani Mahal, Chennai. I am well-versed in Kalakshetra and Vazhuvoor banis in Bharatanatyam.
I moved to the Greenville, SC area and ardently wish to continue to pass on this >2000 year old art form to future generations through Lāsya Arts and Dance Institute. I perform for charitable causes when the opportunity arises and continue to participate in various productions with my Guru, Madhusri and Srutilaya School. I also learn from Guru Kalaimamani Madurai R. Muralidharan, his beautiful compositions.
